A House In The City - home truths in urban architecture

Our RIBA commissioned book; 'A House in the City; home truths in urban architecture' records our research and asks the broad question: what makes a great family dwelling in the city?

The Rational House team visited 9 major cities from which it has drawn comparisons that are explored in the book. It explores the questions and themes that inform residential design, including density, urban form, adaptability and flexibility, space and light, appearance, construction and sustainability.

Each of these subjects is examined in a chapter which draws on the characteristics and the performance of buildings from different parts of the world, looking at both historic and contemporary examples.

Further information relating to the case studies can be found on the RIBA microsite.
